BLACK TEXT This information was published in Dundee Bus Bulletin 24
RED TEXT Corrections, or further information, to that published in DBB24. Includes those routes missed out/informed too late.
BLUE TEXT Subsequent changes AFTER the service changes on 8 July i.e. from requests from passengers etc.
All these changes start on Monday 8th July 2002. Major changes to the express network, rural services in the "east neuk", and Dunfermline town services are all in line for a re-shake. As this DBB was being compiled, Fife had supplied a good quantity of timetables, but a few details were still to be confirmed, and one or two leaflets to be printed these are indicated with a *.
These changes involves no fewer than 40 services.
DUNFERMLINE TOWN SERVICES D1, D2, D5, D6, D7, D8 - ABBEYVIEW CIRCULAR and D3, D4 TOWNHILL PITCORTHIE/DULOCH PARK Services withdrawn, and replaced by many other routes.

Evening and Sunday hourly service is extended to Tesco Duloch Park. Daytime, additional buses leave at xx15 from James Street (buses on Masterton Roundabout journeys leave at xx00 and xx30), and run to Masterton, then Tesco, then following D10 split to either Ferrytoll - then extending via 53 route to North Queensferry Deep Sea World, OR following other half of the D10 split to Dalgety Bay Regents Way. Each split is every 2 hours off peak only, similar to what proved to be a very short-lived service on the D10 (Friday 17 May to Saturday 6 July, 2002...................................)
NEW SERVICE D4 James Street Townhill Shuttle service between James Street and Townhill, via current route EXCEPT buses will run directly in Townhill along Main Street - not serving any side streets. Every 20 minutes daytime, hourly evening & Sunday.
NEW SERVICE D5 James Street - Woodmill Abbeyview Replacing top end of D5, D6 circles, and re-inventing former service D7! Buses will run every 15 minutes during the day, with no evening service after 1900. Sundays will have an hourly service until 1735.
NEW SERVICE D8 James Street - Odeon Cinema Fife Leisure Park Service operates hourly during evenings & Sundays, between James Street, following D1 route to Garvock Bank East, then Woodmill Road, Blacklaw Road, Whitelaw Road, Allan Crescent, Trondheim Parkway, Linburn Road, Dunlin Drive, etc. to Odeon Cinema. Although this provides a new evening & Sunday link along Garvock Hill, the daytime replacement is Service D9, which is not the same as the current D9......
SERVICE D9 PARKNEUK - QUEEN MARGARET HOSPITAL Service revised, Operates half-hourly until about 1900, Monday to Saturday only. Operates between Parkneuk, via existing route to James Street, then Garvock Hill, Garvock Bank east, Woodmill Road, Shields Road, Allan Crescent, Trondheim Parkway, Linburn Road, Halbeath Road, Whitefield Road, Robertson Road, Alderston Drive east & west, then back to Parkneuk again. (This was in the full page press ad in the Dunfermline Press of 5 July as a dotted line on the coloured route map)SERVICE D10 DUNFERMLINE - FERRYTOLL or DALGETY BAY via FORDELL Most of the service beyond Duloch Park is replaced by the new D3. The service between James Street and Carnegie Campus is now hourly, with one or two changes at peaks. Bus runs from James Street, via St Margarets Drive, bus depot, Izatt Ave/Johnston Crescent area, Aberdour Road, Pitcorthie, to Carnegie Campus "Water Board"
Subsequent residents requests meant that... 1. Evening & Sunday service introduced to Izatt Avenue/Johnston Crescent areas not necessarily on this service!. 2. Services removed from Conventers Rise, Pitreavrie Castle Estate, following problems with local residents. Not sure on the current routing.KIRKCALDY TOWN SERVICE K1 BUS STATION REDCRAIGS Service reduced to hourly. K8 extended to Redcraigs, as partial replacement. Buses will depart from the Bus Station on the hour (Daytime).
KIRKCALDY TOWN SERVICE K8 BUS STATION - BALMORAL DRIVE (day) OR CHAPEL VILLAGE (evening) Service extended to Redcraigs (daytime) partly replacing Service K1. Buses (during the day) depart from the Bus Station at 22 minutes past (K1 & K8 worked by the same bus, by chance?)

All stops St Andrews - Leven, limited stop to Glasgow. Crossford/Cairneyhill restrictions also on this route. Ravenscraig Flats restricted to passengers boarding eastbound, and alighting westbound, but not in the peaks. As mentioned above, Monday Saturday the route is worked by St Andrews, Kirkcaldy, and Dunfermline. However, on Sundays, the service is worked between St Andrews & Anstruther as Service 95, which then carries on to Dunfermline as Service X26. The 95/X26 combo will be ran by Kirkcaldy. At Dunfermline, the bus connects with the X24 for Dunfermline although, none of the new pocket timetables show any connections!

Revised timetable. All off-peak and Saturday buses to run into Ninewells Hospital via Ninewells Avenue in both directions. Weekday buses to Technology Park will now be the first buses in the morning (which run to the Tech Park then Ninewells, before 0900),plus buses between 1630 & 1730 from Ninewells (via Tech Park). Evening buses to Dundee City Centre will be re-routed to use the same stops as the daytime service i.e. Seagate, Commercial street, Dock St Busway, Nethergate, then the bus will terminate at Marketgait (Railway Station). From the railway station, to Nethergate (Overgate Centre), buses will then follow the daytime route from there. Sunday buses will now operate on a one-way loop around Dundee direct off the bridge to the Railway Station, then Nethergate, then the weekday/Saturday daytime stops from there. When the leaflet for this route is printed (it is now out) it will be both 42/42A and 96/96A routes combined into one interesting that other groups of routes are being split into more than one leaflet (to keep within the maximum paper length for the folding machine, I am told!), while these two are combined! (The service between Ninewells and Tayport on both routes, was included in both leaflets anyway. However, this does mean the 94 and 99 leaflets will be separated from the 96 again!) Saturday times in the new pocket timetable are the same as the old timetable this will be changed?
SERVICE X50 LEITH/CREWE TOLL EXPRESS 0700 ex Dunfermline continues to Victoria Quay. This journey will divert in Edinburgh at Quality Street via Davidsons Mains, to Ferry Road i.e. not via Blackhall. Off-peak buses to divert via Ocean Terminal centre, and extend at Ferrytoll to North Queensferry Deep Sea World. 1645 ex Ferry Road BAE will commence from Victoria Quay at 1640. Saturday service withdrawn presumably because of low take-up A recently sampled Saturday journey carried only 3 bus enthusiasts for the whole trip...
SERVICE X51 FERRYTOLL PARK & RIDE - NEW EDINBURGH ROYAL INFIRMARY Service withdrawn, following cessation of subsidy by Lothian NHS Trust. A service is still provided on Service X54 (below). LATE NEWS: This service was, in the end, withdrawn after operation on Friday 28 June 2002. As it has not yet appeared in N&P, Im not 100% sure if this was intentional or not!
SERVICE X52 TOWNHILL EDINBURGH Withdrawn. X54 provides a partial replacement along the Bridges. Some journeys on the X54 and X57 are diverted into Townhill, Dunfermline, as a replacement.
SERVICE 53 KELTY - NORTH QUEENSFERRY and SERVICE 79 DUNFERMLINE - DALGETY BAY Withdrawn. Kelty served by 55. North Queensferry served by one-in-six off peak buses in the D3, plus Service 83 every hour. Also diverted to serve North Queensferry are two buses on Schooldays (three school holidays & Saturdays) on new D3, and some off peak journeys on the X50, plus a few journeys on the 55. Rosyth Middlebank Street area served by 79........... P.S. The website press release stated the withdrawal of the 53 would lead to a better service to the Middlebank St area accurately, as it is now 2 buses an hour over one. However, what about North Queensferry? It is ironic that North Queensferry retains a full evening Sunday bus service, however....
SERVICE 54 EDINBURGH ST ANDREW SQUARE - NEW ROYAL INFIRMARY and SERVICE X54 DUNDEE - EDINBURGH ST ANDREW SQUARE Service combined, and now have an hourly service Dundee - Edinburgh New ERI weekdays, (peaks to terminate at Surgeons Hall or SAS), to Edinburgh SAS on Saturdays, and to Glenrothes on Sundays. Every 30 minutes Dundee - Glenrothes on Saturdays, but shorts by-pass Ladybank. Two morning buses weekdays via Townhill. Limited-stop Dundee Edinburgh St Andrew Square, all stops thereafter. Service generally worked by Glenrothes, except one weekday AM journey between Dunfermline & Edinburgh to be ran by Dunfermline.
SERVICE 55, 55A KELTY EDINBURGH All buses now Service 55. 3 buses an hour Kelty - Dunfermline, 2 buses an hour to Edinburgh. One morning bus via Townhill to replace X52.
SERVICE 57, X57 BALLINGRY - LOCHGELLY EDINBURGH Service 57 (all stops) withdrawn. Service X57 (limited stop) to continue, with 1720 ex Edinburgh diverted via Townhill. Morning: 1 bus Ballingry - Lochgelly, 4 buses Lochgelly - Dunfermline, 3 buses Dunfermline - Edinburgh. Afternoon 3 buses Edinburgh - Lochgelly, 2 buses continue to Ballingry. No Saturday or Sunday journeys.
With all these changes occurring, the cross-forth service is getting more often, and not the other way as it might seem! The daytime services from Dunfermline and Dalgety Bay to Edinburgh are both every 20 minutes, so a combined service of a bus about every 10 minutes, applies from Ferrytoll Park & Ride. However, at peak times, the typical service level on both corridors is every 10 minutes meaning a bus every 5 minutes from Ferrytoll to Edinburgh city centre.
SERVICE 59 FERRYTOLL DALGETY BAY Withdrawn, but effectively replaced by enhanced peak time X59, X60 services.
SERVICE X59, X60 ST ANDREWS EDINBURGH X59 to run hourly Cupar - Edinburgh only. X60 to run hourly, route as now. Additional X59's will operate, for most of the day, between Kirkcaldy and Edinburgh, to provide a 20-min daytime service. Additional buses further are being included between Dalgety Bay and Edinburgh at peak times, meaning a 10-minute service for parts of the peak. Sunday service is to operate between Glenrothes & Edinburgh only will inter-connect with the X54 at Glenrothes. Kirkcaldy Edinburgh will still be every 30 minutes. Weekdays, the service will be operated by St Andrews, and Kirkcaldy garages, when the part-routes between Kirkcaldy & Edinburgh on the X59, tie-in with the full journeys on the X60. However, the Cupar Edinburgh X59s are worked by Kirkcaldy solely. On Sundays, the service will be ran by Kirkcaldy & Glenrothes garages.
X58 (morning peak bus) and X59 are now LIMITED STOP (see X24 for all-stops service) and X60 is all stops St Andrews - Leven (except in the village of Largoward, where it will still only serve the one bus shelter), then limited stop to Edinburgh. Ravenscraig Flats (on X60) is restricted in the same way as the X26.

Two minibuses have been moved to cover, with 4 left at St Andrews (2 for Park & Ride, and 2 for 91-94 locals plus 64A/94A during evenings & Sundays).
SERVICE 72 DUNFERMLINE BUS STATION CROSSFORD & CAIRNEYHILL

SERVICE 91, 92, 93 ST ANDREWS LOCALS and SERVICE 94 BALMULLO - ST ANDREWS Minor timing changes to provide better connections with the new 99 group services. (How does a 15-minute service connect with a 20-minute one?)
94 timetable has since arrived. Basically, the daytime service all now run 10 mins earlier 91, 92, 93, 94 (all inter-worked) to avoid the 94 and one of the 99 group clashing.SERVICE 95 ST ANDREWS LEVEN Will now run between St Andrews & Earlsferry as Service 95, 95A, 95B, 95C, including all the off-the-road bits the 61 and 62 used to do, like an Anstruther town loop. Services will mean a 95A, 95B, 95C each running every 3 hours during the day, Monday to Saturday - one with a minibus, one with a single decker, and one with a double decker (I dont know which is which yet!) The evening and Sunday service will be a straight-forward 95. The Leven - Earlsferry section is now operating only for placing journeys. Monday Saturday by Aberhill, however (see X26) Sunday service is tied in with X26 by Kirkcaldy depot.
