Burntisland Games today meant special Stagecoach in Fife Service 21 was running to/from Burntisland. Photos of that, plus some of the new Lothian Buses service changes.

Left Despite being a Fife local holiday in some parts, bus services were running as usual today. Leyland Titan 10789 is seen here at Glenrothes Bus Station using the "sledgehammers" and "nuts" concept on Services G1 & G3 to Collydean. Right I've not shown a MAN with the X1 branding since the renumbering, so to correct this here is 22267 arriving at Glenrothes Bus Station.

Being Burntisland Games day, Stagecoach in Fife had their usual presence on such occasions - double deckers (mostly) on the 7, with duplicates on some runs, and one day a year Service 21 which provides a half-hourly shuttle between Cowdenbeath Kelty Junction and Burntisland Harbour Place. The service runs direct through Cowdenbeath then follows the 18 service, carrying on south through Bernards Smithy and over an otherwise unused (by buses) road into Burntisland. Indeed, the service got a road sign moved by traffic police to let the bus pass the closure at Cromwell Road! Volvo Citybus 15286 is seen at Left Cowdenbeath Kelty Junction, and Right Burntisland Harbour Place.
Left Many buses & coaches in town on hires for this event. A local vehicle from "up the road" was Moffat & Williamson's ex-Central Scotish Dennis Dominator 122 ASV, seen here on the other side of the railway tracks. Right Despite the high crowds at the event, a surprise was to see 14314, the ex-East Midlands Leyland Olympian/ECW duplicating the 7 from Kirkcaldy to Burntisland. Seen here at Harbour Place Burntisland.
Left Volvo Olympian 16425 of Aberhill depot is seen entering the turning circle at Harbour Place, Burntisland. Right Into Edinburgh, and Edinburgh Tour open-top Leyland Olympian 306 is seen at Market Street preparing to end another trip.
Now to have a look at some of the "revised" services brought up by this weekend's service changes by Lothian Buses. Left Service 1 has been effectivly replaced by splitting it into two routes - 1 and 21. The 21 isn't much of a resemblence to the 21 of recent i.e. Gyle to Greendykes, instead running from Gyle via Davidsons Mains and Ferry Road to Leith. Volvo Olympian 416 is seen here at the Gyle having just worked a 21. Right Volvo Olympian 417 shows off Service 18 gaining a deck. The previous combination of subsidised Service R58 and 50, with an extension through the campuses of Napier University, made a Church Hill - Gyle through service. Well, Service 18 now runs to Westside Plaza (Wester hailes shops) before following the south side of the 32/32A to New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Left More changes between Services 2 & 12 on the east side of town result in them both starting/ending at The Jewel. Leyland Olympian 873 is seen at the Gyle working a part-route to St Andrew Square. Right Volvo Olympian 281 seen at Westside Plaza seen on the "revised" Service 18.
Service 20 takes the former shuttle between Balgreen Road and Westside Plaza - with the short section to The Calders replaced by the 28 - then following the former 18 to Church Hill. Dennis Dart SLF's 77 and 82 are seen at Westside Plaza. Service 20's "Part Route" blinds are presumably intended for Service 22, but are used as the "end" blind for the 20 - not really part-route-ing at all.
Left Dennis Dart 167 seen at Fort Kinnaird on new service 30. The 30 combines most of what was service 28 CORRECTED! until Gorgie Road at Balgreen Road, where the bus runs up Balgreen Road and then onto the 22 route via Western Approach Road, then down Lothian Road onto Princes Street. The bus then follows Service 14 to Newcraighall Station with half the service (Daytime) carrying on via route 40 to Musselburgh. Right Volvo B6 30658 of Stagecoach in Fife seen at Ferrytoll Park & Ride on Service X40 from Riccarton/Broomhouse/Edinburgh Park/Gyle to Dunfermline.
