March 2002
Apologies for the lack of updates recently. However,
this time I'm not to blame! The 8m.com servers have been down, I've
been unable to upload, and the Anorak and ASNLondon sites are all
down! Well, bad luck comes in threes!
It was one of
THOSE days today in Dundee...
 |
Firstly, Optare MetroRider 206 was allocated to the
Downfield/Ninewells 20/22 (the busiest service in the
City!) Bus seen here at Ninewells. |

When the bus got to the City Centre, it was
replaced... by Dennis Dart 35! |
 |
206 at
the High Street |
 |
206 & 35 at the High Street, together |
 |
35 at
Seagate later in the day |
 |
35 in Whitehall Street later in the day |
 |
Also, Scania MaxCi 114 was allocated to the
Douglas-Charleston 28-29 service... |
 |
... as was Volvo B6 119 ! ! !... |
 |
While
206/35 were on the Douglas, Volvo B10BLE 155 was on the 9X/10X. |
 |
The much-needed
low floor double deckers are being re-registered with
Dundee "02" plates before being put on the road.
Here, TWM 4302 is now XX 02 XXX, and registered/licenced
as such. The bus was originally BU 51 XXX. This bus was
on driver familirisation work today, but the remainder
were in the yard. |
Other "odd"
allocations I was unable to get on camera, included 108 on the 8
(207 was on the 2 in "exchange"), and 174 on the school
bus 1X in the afternoon... with a full standing load of kids!
 |
Strathtay were not to be outdone - 165 was
on the "ATC" contract worked by 216 normally -
plus the daytime Service 70 - while 402 was used on the
morning 68 to Dundee College. |
 |
Blairgowrie
used MCW Metrobus 804 - intended for the Blairgowrie -
Perth 58 school journeys - on the 1600 57 to Perth via
Blairgowrie. |

21 February 2002
Back in Scotland after a few days in London... one thing
that was fairly obvious today was Travel Dundee 92 back on the
road. This Volvo Citybus/Alexander has not been seen since the
turn of the year, but was out today on Outer Circle 10.
 |
92
was the first Citybus to be fully refurbished in 1998 -
new floor, new seats etc. While the rest were not so
widely altered, 92 now has the usual assortment of seat
coverings across the bus! |
Saturday
18 February 2002 Angus trip
A tour round Angus, with an evening trip to Perth, was the basis
of my day today. Had a look round everything Strathtay could
throw at us.... Click on the image for a larger one - more pix to follow.

Firstly,
stopped off in Carnoustie, having sampled a new Volvo B7L
decker. Arbroath are now working the Carnoustie - Dundee/Ninewells
services, with crew changes done at the Westhaven Park
terminus. Here, 701 (SN 51 something-something-something)
is seen changing driver and conductor. |
 |
The bus
that took the departing crew back to Arbroath, and
brought the new crew in! 169 (F311 EJO), an ex-Stagecoach
Viscount Mercedes, also at Westhaven Park. |
 |
Tayside
(G&N Wisharts) ex-TWM Optare Solo W309 (T307 UOX)
seen arriving in Arbroath Bus Station. |
 |
Ex-Strathclyde
Buses long-wheelbase MCW Metrorider 214 (E207 BNS) seen
at Arbroath Bus Station. This was being used as a crew
transfer bus, however, in the evening it was used on
Arbroath's share of the "Tayway" route (75
Monifeith journeys + one 77B + last 73A). |
